Stone and Light

In the heart of Modica, this renovation is conceived as a luminous dialogue between place, history, and contemporary living, shaping a home that honors its architectural legacy while embracing a new way of inhabiting space.

By preserving the original limestone flooring and integrating surviving architectural elements, the project creates a dialogue between the building’s history and a refined new spatial identity. Bespoke oak joinery, sculptural Calacatta marble volumes, and carefully framed views towards the castle define an interior shaped by light, materiality, and proportion.

Rather than imposing contrast, the design reveals the character of the existing structure while introducing contemporary interventions through thoughtful adaptation—celebrating both permanence and transformation.
