A new civic space for the Sagrato della Madonna delle Grazie

Once dominated by cars, the square is being redesigned to reconnect the Basilica Santuario della Madonna delle Grazie and Palazzo dei Mercedari with the surrounding urban fabric, creating a more welcoming, accessible and sustainable public space.

The project introduces new limestone paving, rain gardens for sustainable water management, shaded green areas, improved walkability and accessibility, and a renewed civic identity for the neighbourhood.

Bringing together heritage, ecology and urban regeneration, the project looks to the future of Mediterranean cities and the role of public spaces in supporting more resilient, inclusive and liveable communities.
