Antonio Stornello co-founded MAx with Mark Cannata in 2021. He opened his previous architectural practice in Modica in 2003, choosing to undertake a path of contemporary architecture within an important historical setting such as that of Modica, in the province of Ragusa. Over the years he has designed various redevelopment interventions of properties in the historic towns of Modica, Ragusa, Vittoria, Catania, and Syracuse, as well as a number of significant new buildings. His focus is primarily in the residential, commercial and hospitality sectors, always proposing innovative solutions and design themes.
The continuous challenge of relating a contemporary approach with the historical fabric of these cities has been a continuous challenge, undertaken with a view to reducing land use, energy consumption and in general resources. Antonio champions a process-led methodology to design and has been a member of the Project Management Institute since 2018 and one of the first architects in the region to developed projects according to the BIM (Building Information Modelling) methodology.
Since 2017 he has been a member of the counsel of the local chapter of Architects for the province of Ragusa and of the Architectural Foundation of Ragusa that organizes conferences, exhibitions and events relating to the theme of reuse of urban centers, involving internationally renowned architects.
